Life grows on...
so back behind those trees is the foundation of Mr. W's house. It's all gone. The debris on the ground is all that's left. Those clothes hanging in the tree were brought in by the water - yep that's how high the water was. The clothes got me first. But what got me next was that sunflower ... life grows back even after Hurricaine Katrina. No one re-planted it, it just grew back. The trees even though they look beaten and bare, have leaves growing on them. The grass is shooting up green. And the flowers are blooming amidst the debris and the rubble left from the storm.
it seems that God teaches us through the sunflower ... life doesn't just go on, life grows on ... life grows back... even after death and destruction: the sunflower stands tall. There is life to be found amidst the hard times. Life is resilient. We are resilient. God made his creation, resilient.
And so the people of the Gulf Coast have hope, have faith - they believe - life is growing back whether they have walls and a roof or not.
Life grows on...

Today I had a Silent Day. No talking. At all. Silence. Period. I needed it. It's one thing to talk about Mississippi with you guys, but it's quite another to have everyone at school asking you about what you did on Spring Break...I'm not ready to talk about it yet. And I don't really think I will be for a while. Today was just dedicated entirely to God, constantly talking with Him. Trying to follow the wise words of the dear Brother Lawrence and practice His presence. I just needed a little quiet....
beh -- I was quiet today as well ... took the day off... just keep believing ... just keep hoping ... just be present.
Nice job on today's Lenten meditation Megan and Andrea!
